In order to become an electrician your typical path is an apprenticeship program that lasts as long as 4 years to complete. The apprenticeship typically includes 8000 hours of on job training and over 500 hours of classroom instruction. At the end of the apprenticeship you will need to pass a state license exam to become a journeyman.
